“Thought I smelled flowers,” said Toes.

Slem smiled. He rubbed his finger across the table and left a trail through the dust.

“Want to see something?” he asked.

Toes nodded. Slem stood and cracked his neck. He raised his open hands and closed his eyes. Magic crackled in the air and shook the tea cups. There was enough energy in the air that Toes felt it sting like a million small pricks on his skin. Slem grunted and forcefully closed his hands into fists. All of the dust in the room lifted into the air. It looked like dense fog in the morning. Toes immediately felt a sneeze coming on.
